I needed a bit of a mental break from talking about Sparkles for a bit and the point we are in my story just happens to provide the perfect opportunity to dive much further into my past. I feel it’s important to recognize how past experiences (good and bad), traumas and relationships develop a pattern over time. Continue reading “Down the Rabbit Hole – Part 1: Dating Friends”
Sparkles was getting his youngest kid, China, for the weekend and wasn’t comfortable with her knowing we were sleeping together. He said needed to set an example to his children that sex before marriage was a sin. I think that’s unrealistic but, ultimately, it’s his choice. I still couldn’t help but retort, “Don’t you take a car for a test drive before you buy it?” He laughed. He offered to cancel with her and spend time with me. I was a bit shocked that he would choose his children over me so early in our relationship but, I was also strangely flattered that you would choose ME over his children so early in our relationship. I told him Continue reading “Wall of China – Meeting his Youngest”
We were going crazy with all the sneaking around and we wanted to get away for a weekend. It was going to be our first weekend getaway! We were both SO excited and SO in love! So, we planned a weekend at the beach. I knew of a perfect hotel that I’d stayed in (with my dad) before and there was a view of the beach. We separately came up with an excuse to tell The Salesman for not being there for the weekend. I parked my car at my parent’s house, he picked me up after about an hour and we headed out.
We drove straight to the seawall, hopped out of the car and went down the steps to the sand. As we were talking about where to eat, we took off our shoes. Sparkles was looking up something on his phone and tuned me out. “Are you ignoring me?” He kept scrolling. Hmm… I don’t like being ignored. I decided to have a little fun with it. I scooped up our shoes and slowly started strolling down the beach. Continue reading “The Wire”
There were eight guys in my circle but, with Ms. Twiggy gone, Sparkles had a lot more free time and he was giving me more and more attention. I needed the full circle less and less. So, I let them start to drift off. Some, I just stopped calling and others I answered less frequently. Barbie had his girlfriend (and they’re still together); I’m happy for them. I saw her walking on the side of the road once and took her home; she’s a sweet girl. Ex Boyfriend had his crazy baby momma drama going on and a new baby. I was privileged enough to be one of the first people in the world to hold that precious little girl (and her momma is STILL pissed about it. Bitch.). Of course, me living under the same roof as Sparkles really made it unnecessary to have any of them. I mean, I had a ton of attention and I didn’t really need a place to stay that often. He was hot, new and dreamy so, I’d rather be near him. I knew I could change his mind about not wanting a real relationship and I knew I was going to marry him. I just had to wait for him to Continue reading “The Game Changer”
Finally, we managed to get our first date! I asked him if he played pool and confessed that I wasn’t going to take it easy on him, first date or not. Ha! His business was slow and he was in a financial crunch but, mine was doing great and I REALLY wanted the date so, I told him I’d pay. He reluctantly agreed. We were discussing where we would go and I asked him to take me somewhere I’d never been, which would have to be out of the area because I’d been to all the bars around there. In reality, Continue reading “The First Date”
Now, I mentioned that Sparkles broke it off with Ms. Twiggy. This is
My first week working for this client, he tells me that he bought tickets for him and his girlfriend to see a rock concert. He wanted me to print out directions, nearby places to eat and such. I put together a pretty elaborate package for him and he was totally impressed. Winning! The day of the concert, Continue reading “The Forbidden Fruit”
Eventually, and thanks to an amazing friend getting my foot in the door, the cleaning part of my business got busy enough I had to hire help. I had a hard time finding it and an even harder time keeping it. First Guy, who was technically my boyfriend, was squatting with this asshole friend of his at some house that was for sale and didn’t have a job. Remember when I said something was missing? He didn’t have his shit together and wasn’t actively doing anything about it.
Oh, and by the way, Continue reading “The Full Circle”
